Mission
Our mission is to broaden the horizon of literary fiction, raise the bar for speculative fiction, and curate stories that open our minds to great possibilities while striking the human chord at its most resonant. There is something wondrous that lies at the intersection of the literary and the speculative, and that's precisely where we want to be.
Who Do We Publish?
We publish aspiring writers, emerging writers, and established writers. We are always looking for stories from the underrepresented, and we strongly believe that all voices should be heard.
Editorial Philosophy
The line between the literary and the speculative is dissipating, and this is for the better...
Literature is a mythic creature of sorts; something legendary that has been around for ages. And while somewhat intangible, it remains alive and well and thriving.
One of the ancient beast's qualities is that it is ever evolving. Literature is never a stagnant thing. It sways and it morphs and it erupts with the new and avant-garde on a surprisingly consistent basis. We have more subgenres than ever before, and those classic genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, which we deemed "speculative," now exist in the mainstream as much as they once did in the fray.
At alchemical, we want to capitalize on this precise element. We want to illuminate that beautiful bloom where the literary and the speculative collide together in sure wonder.
