Our Contributor Agreement
ALCHEMICAL: A LITERARY JOURNAL OF THE SPECULATIVE
Contributor Agreement
This Contributor Agreement ("Agreement") is between Alchemical: A Literary Journal of the Speculative ("Publisher"), with a contact email of editor@alchemicaljournal.com, and the undersigned contributor ("Author"), concerning the work identified below ("Work").

By accepting this Agreement, the Author and Publisher agree to the following:
1. Grant of Rights
The Author grants the Publisher First North American Serial Rights to publish the Work in Alchemical: A Literary Journal of the Speculative, including publication in the Journal's online edition.
The Author retains copyright and all rights not expressly granted in this Agreement.
The Publisher may also display the Work in the Journal's permanent online archive and may use reasonable excerpts, quotations, and images of the Work for promotional purposes relating to the Journal.
2. Exclusivity
The Author agrees not to publish or authorize another party to publish the Work before its initial publication by Alchemical without the Publisher's written permission.
For 180 days following initial publication, the Author agrees not to authorize another publication to publish the Work in substantially the same form.
After this period, the Author is free to republish the Work elsewhere, provided that the Author acknowledges its initial publication in Alchemical.
3. Reprints and Anthologies
The Publisher may reprint the Work one additional time in a collection or anthology produced by or on behalf of Alchemical, provided that the Author receives appropriate attribution.
Any other publication or licensing of the Work requires the Author's permission.
4. Editing and Title
The Publisher may make reasonable copyediting, formatting, and proofreading changes to the Work.
The Publisher will not make substantive changes to the Work or change its title without the Author's approval.
5. Copyright and Attribution
Copyright remains with the Author. The Publisher will credit the Author as the creator of the Work wherever the Work is published.
6. Payment and Royalties
Alchemical: A Literary Journal of the Speculative is a non-paying literary journal.
No payment, honorarium, contributor fee, or royalties will be provided for publication or for the rights granted under this Agreement.
7. Author's Representations
The Author represents that:
- the Author is the creator and copyright holder of the Work, or otherwise has the authority to grant the rights described in this Agreement;
- the Work does not knowingly infringe the copyright or other rights of another person; and
- the Author has not granted another party rights that conflict with this Agreement.
8. Acceptance
By signing or electronically accepting this Agreement, the Author acknowledges that they have read and understood its terms and agree to them.
